Our Top Picks From CES 2014!

Image
Well, CES is now behind us and we have tons to sort through. While we do that, we'll give you some opinions on what we thought was our favorites. First up was NVIDIA's Tegra K1. By now everyone has seen the reveal video and the press conference. Going into the booth, our minds were collectively blown. The first two K1 devices we saw were on prototype boards that look like a double stacked micro ITX motherboard. One was running 4K video to 2 screens. The video was clear and no stutters to be seen. The second was showing in car use, giving real time lane detection, collision warnings, car tracking, current speed and more! Needless to say, the K1 is a game changer for Android and mobile computing as a whole.

Valve's Steam Machine Beta Specs Are Impressive!

Image
Valve has let loose the specs for the beta Steam Machines and WOW! We are talking mix specked units, from i3 to i7 CPUs and Nvidia TITAN to GTX660 GPUs. These will run the gamut of the current mid to high end PCs and will give Valve and users a better understanding on what you will need to play your PC games in the livingroom! Remember, only 300 beta testers have a shot at these.... and we are hoping we get one. Read the FULL PR after the break

NVIDIA Reveals The Tegra Note!

Image
Now this is the tablet I have been waiting for. NVIDIA has unveiled the Tegra Note platform for OEMs. What does this mean for you? That means that NVIDIA will not be selling them directly, like their video cards, but through OEMs like EVGA, ASUS, and others. Luckily, according to the press release, NVIDIA will be handling firmware releases directly. so everyone will be up to date regardless of who you bought it from! Full press release is after the break!

Batman Plays Better On A PC!

Image
As you can see in the above video, Batman Arkham Origins, like the previous 2 games, looks significantly better on a PC than the PS3 or Xbox 360. I have only played about 20 minutes worth of the previous games on a console combined, and this will be no different. Between higher resolutions, AA, tessellation and Phys-X, why does ANYONE want to play these games on a console?

Superman gets beat up by BatMan?

Well, last night Nvidia announced its follow up to the Tegra 3 SOC (Kal-El) with the 72 core gpu Tegra 4 SOC (Wayne). So far NVIDIA's new Shield portable gaming unit and Vizio's new 10 inch tablet are confirmed to be using it... MadFinger's Dead Trigger 2 was shown running off the Tegra 4 and shows almost current gen console quality... Maybe early Xbox 369 and PS3 quality... Time to sell the Nexus 7? Nvidia’s GTX 680 emphasizes efficiency, pours on the speed

Image
Today, Nvidia takes the wraps off Kepler, its next-generation GPU, and quite possibly the greatest step forward for graphics processing since it unveiled the G80 in November 2006. The first desktop card out of the gate is the GTX 680. Unlike the 5xx series, which were based on a refined version of the Fermi architecture Nvidia debuted back in 2010, Kepler uses a new GK104 GPU — and its design is a sharp departure from Nvidia’s previous architectures. More after the jump.
