Editorial - Goodbye Google+

Image
Goodbye Google+ It has been months. Months of struggling. And here we are. I want to love you Google+, I really do. I've been your strongest advocate amongst my friends and family. Extolling your virtues over the other guys. We've been together for years, but now I have to let you go. Why? It is simple. I need a better social network. I need a social network that works for me. Is there for me whenever I want it. Easy to use. Ready to go. And you just aren't it.

Facebook buys Instagram

Image
Greetings Geeks! The big news of the day is Instagram! Social media giant Facebook has bought the photo sharing app for a cool $1,000,000,000. That's $1 Billion! Facebook has no intention of closing the site or the app and also has no intention of limiting it's integration with competing social networks. But this does bring up an interesting thought. Google+ has Picasa integrated with it's Picnik image editor. This allows G+ users to do pretty much all the same things as Instagram. I wouldn't be surprised to see Facebook try integrating Instagram's feature set to it's own social network as a ways of competing. Not that they need it. But Zuckerberg must be sweating Google's social behemoth, otherwise, why bother? Especially with the price tag. What do you guys think?

Facebook Pages getting a face lift

Image
Well, you knew it was inevitable. Facebook is changing the look of it's pages to reflect the Timeline style that is currently being rolled out to users. This change isn't just cosmetic. The social network is also making changes to it's advertising scheme. No longer restricted to the right pane, FB is allowing ads to pop up..well...anywhere! Even in their mobile app! But wait, there's more! The cerulean company is also rolling out an offers feature that will allow pages to host special deals for fans. <sarcasm>All this change is sure to be a huge hit with Facebook users</sarcasm> Check the full PR after the jump.

Facebook on the Vita Works and UMvC3 DLC Issues?

Image
As of today, the Vita Facebook app seems to be working again! Also, the missing DLC from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is available, which includes Jill Valentine, Shuma Gorath, and the 1st costume pack. . While owners of UMvC3 on the PS3 who have purchased the DLC can use the same DLC on the Vita, people who bought the CE version of the 1st release of the game cannot with the exception of the costume pack. We are waiting for Capcom to get back to our emails on this.
