Vuzix Announces New Smart Glasses Tech With Help From Nokia!

Image
So what you see above is what Vuzix's and Nokia's new technology is capable of. A holographic type overlay that is very "Start Wars"sie! The best part? It can be used with standard glasses frames. For those of us that have prescription glasses, this is awesome news! We already had a Vuzix interview scheduled for CES, so we will be able to see this in action! Read the full press release after the break!

CES 2013: We interview Archos about the Archos Gamepad!

Image
While at CES, we also had a chance to talk to Craig from Archos again. This time about the Archos Gamepad, a 7" Android Table running Jelly Bean and featuring actual buttons for gameplay. The best part is Archos' Game Mapping tool that allows you to map your touchscreen controls to the buttons on the tablet. Watch Craig tell us about the Gamepad after the jump!

CES 2013: Wicked Audio

Image
While running around from booth to booth at CES we caught a glimpse of Wicked Audio. While I am not familiar with the company, they were more than happy to let us play around with their headphones! Read more after the jump!

CES 2013: Hands on with the Archos Titanium Line and interview with Craig TerBlanche!

Image
At CES we had a chance to visit ARCHOS' booth and play with some of their upcoming tablets, especially the Titanium line. These are low priced Google certified devices with AMAZING IPS screens. Do not let the low prices fool you as these are very capable machines. We here used to own a few Gen 8 101IT's and well, besides near flawless media playback, were just "meh". That is no longer the case as the 97 Titanium comes with a 9.7" 2048x1536 pixel screen, Dual Core 1.6 Ghz A9 CPU, and a Mali 400 GPU. Even better, you get FULL HD 1080P HDMI out, 2 USB Ports (1 host and 1 to connect to your PC) and a MicroSD slot that is compatible with up to 64GB cards! All this at a little over a pound! After the Jump, ARCHOS' Craig TerBlanche walks us through the Titanium line!

CES 2013: Hands on with Aftershokz and an interview with Dennis Taussig

Image
While at CES we had a chance to speak with Dennis Taussig of Aftershokz about their current line of products. What sets Aftershokz apart from mere headphones is that there are no speakers! These headphones use bone conduction to pump the sound straight into your eardrum without covering your ears, thus allowing you to still hear everything around you. We tried a set at CES and let me tell you.... We were blown away. Even after maxing out the volume I could still hear everything around me and the audio was crystal clear. This is the same tech the Military and Law Enforcement has been using for years now at home! I could go on and on, but we'll just let Dennis Taussig, the Vice President and CMO of Aftershokz tell you himself after the break!

CES 2013: Hands on with ioSafe's N2!

Image
While visiting Synology's booth we also had the chance to talk with Robb Moore, CEO of ioSafe, about the N2. What's so awesome about the N2? Well, it's a fire and water proof NAS running on Synology's DSM platform. What that means is that besides keeping your data safe from floods and fire, you also get access to Synology's apps like E-Mail services, VPN access, movie and music streaming and so much more.. So head after the jump to view more...

LG/Marvell showed off Miracast at Unveiled

Image
Finally had some hands on time wit Miracast... A wireless video delivery system. LG had a tv powered by the same Marvell chip in the current Google TV lineup and an unmarked Android tablet... From what I was told by the rep, it leverages the 5Ghz band for WiFi N.. So possibly no Nexus 7 love? Anyways... In a room saturated by an insane amount of WiFi traffic, the demo ran pretty well, well just some minor video distortion similar to Youtube when your bandwidth drops. With a delay of about less than a second, it seems like a viable way to connect to your TV... Sent from my Windows Phone

Superman gets beat up by BatMan?

Well, last night Nvidia announced its follow up to the Tegra 3 SOC (Kal-El) with the 72 core gpu Tegra 4 SOC (Wayne). MadFinger's Dead Trigger 2 was shown running off the Tegra 4 and shows almost current gen console quality... Maybe early Xbox 369 and PS3 quality... Time to sell the Nexus 7? CES Goodies

Ok, more like goody... Upon entry to CES Unveiled, everyone was given a Bcoda JAK, a USB device that allows you to stream from your Android or IOS device to anything that accepts a USB flash drive. So, for example, I can plug it into my Tv and select audio or video files from my Nexus 7. The TV sees it as a flash drive and will stream from my tablet. The best part is that it works great! Now I wish I didn't get a pink one and they made a Windows phone version. Read more here http://bcoda.com/jak.html Sent from my Windows Phone

And we are at CES 2013!

Tonight you have a few press conferences and CES Unveiled.... A pretty show for CES... I have no idea what to expect.... But I'll have photos later tonight! The festivities start at 4pm PST...

CES 2012- Interview With Derek Dawson of Alpine

Image
We had some time to chat up Alpine about the upcoming INE-Z928HD in car entertainment unit. What we saw blew my mind and made my current IVA-W505 seem like some decades old radio! This unit comes with GPS, Bluetooth, Pandora Radio, iPod integration, and more! At anestimated $1499 price point, it still seems like a deal for Alpine quality. View more and be amazed after the jump!

CES 2012 - Murata Waterproof Speakers

Image
Murata manufactures a huge myriad of products. One of these was basically an accidental discovery. They now  distribute waterproof speakers. It's tech that you wouldn't really think about, but it's useful in a huge number of products. Check out our interview with Peter Tiller of Murata about their waterproof speaker tech.

CES 2012 - Murata Boy

Image
Murata Boy has been a staple of CES for several years. He's basically a PR stunt. But he's a pretty epic one. Murata takes all of their technology...tech that you may not know they make, and they jam it into this little adorable robot to raise awareness of their products. It's cute, it's clever, and I enjoy watching him every year. Check out our interview with Mark Waugh of Murata to see what's new with this year's update...Eco Murata Boy.
