Review - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)

Image
Greeting Geeks, In case you haven't checked it out yet, Nickelodeon has released their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. As a general disclaimer: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MICHAEL BAY'S TURTLES PROJECT . To put it simply, it's Teen Titans meets Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003). To put it more complexly...well...you'll have to hit the jump for that.

Editorial: Will the Justice League movie work?

Image
Greetings Geeks, With the recent announcement that the Justice League movie is expected in the summer of 2015, the same summer that The Avengers 2 is being released, speculation is running rampant on the inter-webs as to the possibility of success for Warner Bros. and DC Comics seemingly "rushed" time table. Well...here's my take on the subject.

Playstation All Stars demo now available!

Well, this past Tuesday Sony finally released the beta for their Smash Brothers clone. In order to grab it now you must be a PS3 PSN+ account holder or own a PlayStation Vita. So far it is interesting, but I've had issues connecting to fight online. But it is a beta, so I have faith that it'll be fixed. So, why are you not play in it right now?

The Justice League Movie is coming in 2015

Image
Greetings Geeks, News from Warner Bros. on the upcoming Justice League film and it seems that the gauntlet has been dropped. The L.A. Times is reporting that the studio is planning on beginning filming next year with a Summer 2015 release date. This puts it VERY close to the May 1st, 2015 release date for The Avengers 2! So there you have it. DC Comics is taking it to the mattresses. The studio has no plans on releasing any tie-in films before hand. Though speculation is running wild that Henry Cavill will be the Superman of choice for the film. Can the WB successfully pull off a team hero franchise without using Marvel's proven formula of releasing build up films? Time will tell. Until then, let the speculation fly!

Tai Chi Zero - Trailers

Image
Greetings Geeks, This is one of those interesting situations where a film can appear to have a completely different slant depending on where it's marketed. Submitted for your approval: Tai Chi Zero . A Steampunk Martial Arts epic. That's right...I said Steampunk and Martial Arts in the same sentence. Tai Chi Zero is the tale of a magically gifted martial artist and his quest to learn the elusive Chen style of kung fu. When he arrives at Chen Village, our hero discovers he has to fight to earn the Master's respect. And this is going to involve hacking a giant steampunk machine, as well as stealing some kung fu moves from the Master's daughter. Based on the Chinese trailer, I'm very excited to see this one. Based on the American trailer, I'm not. Hit the jump to see both of the trailers.

Iron Man: Rise Of Technovore

Greetings Geeks! How do you like your Iron Man animated? Do you like it in an Anime style? Do you like it in a MAD House Anime style? If so, then rev up your Arc Reactors because Marvel has teamed with Mad House to bring you Iron Man: Rise Of Technovore! Check out the NYCC trailer as well as more info on the movie after the jump.

The Croods Trailer

Image
omg! Omg! OMG! OMFG! The theatrical trailer for the Croods is out! I'm so psyched for this one. One of my personal favorite artists Chris Sanders of Lilo and Stitch and How to train your Dragon fame is back again with his next project "The Croods" Check out the trailer!

IRON MAN & HULK: Heroes United Trailer!

Image
Greetings geeks! I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. I love Marvel. But this team up is like Oil and Water. Hulk and Iron Man have a long history of hating each other and seeing them all "chummy" is leaving me more "WTF?" than "OMFG!" But check it out. Maybe you'll feel differently. Also...When has Iron Man's tech ever been a real problem for ol' Jade Jaws?

Con etiquette towards a female cosplayer

We here at the Grotto have participated in our fair share of cons over the past couple of years and have talked to quite a few cosplayers. When we do, regardless if they are male or female, in something that totally covers them up or something skimpy, we have always tried to show the utmost respect. The story I'm linking shows the wrong side of this.... The douchebags that give male, geek centric reporters a bad name. Mandy Caruso had to deal with some real pieces of crap during the New York Comic Con this past weekend. The best part, I think she handled the situation perfectly. R ead about what she did here.

Cartoon Network yanks DC Nation until next year!

Image
Well, today I get home and decide to watch both "The Green Lantern"  and "Young Justice: Invasion" only to see Dragons recorded instead. A quick Google search and all was revealed, and it sucks! For some stupid reason CN decided to pull the DC Nation block until January! No reason, no warning, nothing. Bad call CN, bad call. What do you guys think..... And yes, if you listened to the Moka a couple of weeks back, you know that some of us don't think highly of the lantern, but I want your opinions on CN's decision.
