Review - Cirque Du Freak Saga

Cirque Du Freak is a great series by writer Darren Shan. After I finished one book I couldn’t wait to pick up the other. Darren Shan has a creative new spin on traditional vampires that makes them seem more real than fiction.

The lead character Darren Shan is a teenage boy who goes to a freak show with his best friend Steve "Leopard” Leonard. At the show he meets a mysterious man, Mr. Crepsley, who turns out to be a vampire. After a series of events Darren must leave his normal life to travel on the road with the Cirque Du Freak to become a vampire.

The writing style is a bit juvenile but serves it's purpose. The stories are full of action, pain, excitement, gore, a little bit of romance and more action.
The 12 book saga is definitely worth a read. With so many characters, the twists and turns never end.

I love gore in books but sometimes too much gore ruins a good book. These books had just the right amount that kept me interested.

If you’re like me, you’ve seen the movie and thought. “Well, that was interesting.” To which I say. “The books are even better.”
