Facebook buys Instagram

Greetings Geeks!

The big news of the day is Instagram! Social media giant Facebook has bought the photo sharing app for a cool $1,000,000,000. That's $1 Billion!

Facebook has no intention of closing the site or the app and also has no intention of limiting it's integration with competing social networks.

But this does bring up an interesting thought. Google+ has Picasa integrated with it's Picnik image editor. This allows G+ users to do pretty much all the same things as Instagram. I wouldn't be surprised to see Facebook try integrating Instagram's feature set to it's own social network as a ways of competing. Not that they need it. But Zuckerberg must be sweating Google's social behemoth, otherwise, why bother? Especially with the price tag.

What do you guys think?
