G.I. Joe Retaliation delayed?

Greetings Geeks,

So as it turns out, G.I. Joe: Retaliation is being delayed a full 9 months from June 29th of this year to March 29th, 2013. The official reason from Hasbro is that they are converting the film to 3D.

"It is increasingly evident that 3D resonates with movie-goers globally and together with Paramount, we made the decision to bring fans an even more immersive entertainment experience," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro's President and CEO in an official statement.

Editorial: I call "shenanigans" on this one folks. How convenient is it that just a few days after the complete and total failure of Hasbro's latest attempt to empty our wallets that this announcement comes out? My opinion? They are scared to death of releasing this movie against the powerhouse summer slate of The Avengers, Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises.
What are your thoughts? Are they converting to 3D or running scared from the superhero @$$ whipping they just got from Joss Whedon's superhero epic "The Avengers"?
